Food security is vital to human well-being, directly impacting the health and stability of individuals and communities. However, climate change, conflict, and crises have exacerbated food insecurity in many regions. The Tadamon Accelerator for Food Security, funded by IsDB and ISFD and implemented by UNDP, is calling on Civil Society Organizations (CSOs)—including community-based organizations, tech-driven CSOs, and social enterprises—to tackle these challenges through innovative and impactful solutions.

If you represent a CSO with a groundbreaking project aimed at enhancing food security, particularly in conflict-prone regions, this accelerator is an opportunity to transform your ideas into impactful solutions. Building on the success of the 2022 Tadamon Accelerator, this second edition promises to be even more transformative and rewarding!

Thematic Focus

Proposals should address one of the following thematic tracks:

  1. Climate-Smart Agriculture
    Solutions that enhance agricultural productivity while adapting to and mitigating the impacts of climate change.
  2. Tech for Food, Energy, and Water Access and Utilization
    Innovations leveraging technology to ensure sustainable access to food, energy, and water.

  • An 11-week intensive online training program.
  • One-on-one mentorship.
  • Tailored modules and sessions covering:
    • Business Model Development
    • Impact Measurement
    • Project Development and Management
    • Finance and Fundraising
    • Thematic Focus on Food Security
  • Access to world-class experts and a vibrant community of changemakers.
  • Funding Opportunities: Grants of up to $40,000 from a total pool of $850,000 USD for top-performing CSOs.

Eligibility

To qualify, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Be a registered CSO (NGO, association, social enterprise, foundation, cooperative, etc.) in one of these 12 countries:
    • Afghanistan, Burkina Faso, Chad, Djibouti, Libya, Mali, Niger, Nigeria, the State of Palestine, Somalia, Sudan, or Yemen.
  • Be a member of the Tadamon Community.
  • Have proficiency in written and spoken English (program will be conducted in English).
  • Submit a proposal aligned with one of the accelerator’s thematic areas that contributes to improving food security for vulnerable communities.

Selection Criteria

Applications will be evaluated based on the following:

  • Project Feasibility: The solution must be practical, scalable, and implementable within six months post-graduation.
  • Innovation and Novelty: Leverages cutting-edge technologies (e.g., AI, IoT, blockchain) or introduces fresh approaches to enhance food security and community resilience.
  • Established Partnerships: Strong readiness to collaborate with local or international organizations (INGOs).
  • Scalability: Potential to reach new markets and target groups.
  • Impact Potential: High potential for measurable impact, demonstrated through clear Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
  • Dedicated Team: A team of at least two members with relevant expertise.
  • Co-Financing: Ability to contribute at least 1:2 of the project’s total budget, either in-kind or through external co-financing.
  • Gender Representation: Solutions should be gender-responsive or promote gender equality. At least 35% of selected organizations will be women-led CSOs.
  • Support for Vulnerable Groups: Projects should address the needs of conflict-prone areas and marginalized communities.
