Deadline: Jan 31, 2025

Are you ready to create impactful solutions that can transform the health landscape of Nigeria? Grand Challenges Nigeria (GCNg) is calling for bold and innovative proposals to address one of the nation’s most pressing issues: maternal, newborn, and child health.

Why This Matters

Nigeria, Africa’s most populous nation, faces critical challenges in improving maternal, newborn, and child health. Despite numerous interventions, the country still records some of the highest maternal and child mortality rates globally. These challenges are compounded by poverty, limited healthcare access, and an underperforming food system.

GCNg aims to tackle these challenges by fostering innovation and accelerating progress toward the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). This Request for Proposals (RFP) is an opportunity to drive meaningful change and contribute to a healthier future for all Nigerians.

Objectives and Funding Opportunities

The RFP seeks groundbreaking, scalable solutions tailored to Nigeria’s local context. Successful applicants will receive seed grant funding of up to N60 million per project for a 12 to 15-month implementation period.

Key funding details:

  • The exact grant amount will be determined based on the project’s needs, scope, and budget.
  • Applicants are encouraged to submit realistic budgets reflecting the true costs of achieving their objectives.
  • A maximum of 10 projects will be funded under this RFP.

Eligibility and Selection Criteria

To qualify, applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • Be affiliated with a registered Nigerian institution or organization.
  • Demonstrate a strong track record in maternal, newborn, and child health.
  • Projects must be implemented in Nigeria.
  • Collaborative applications involving local and international partners are encouraged, but the lead applicant must be Nigerian.
