Call for Applications: PEP-Hewlett-EIPM Program for African Research Centers (up to $60,000)
Deadline: Feb 28, 2025
The PEP-Hewlett-EIPM program, supported by the William and Flora Hewlett Foundation, invites applications from research centers in East and West Africa to participate in a new program aimed at promoting evidence-informed policymaking (EIPM). This initiative is designed to enhance the collaboration between local research centers and government institutions, fostering the development of synergies that ensure the integration of data and evidence into decision-making processes.
This program focuses on building the capacity of in-country research centers to engage with policymakers effectively, provide real-time advisory support, and establish sustainable frameworks for evidence-based governance. It will be piloted in six countries across East and West Africa and aims to enable research centers to work alongside government bodies to address emerging policy challenges, ensuring that research translates into actionable solutions.
Program Objectives:
- Strengthen capabilities of research centers to think politically and conduct real-time analyses.
- Enhance the capacity of government institutions to engage with evidence for policy-making.

- The center must demonstrate previous experience in collaborating with government institutions and a commitment to policy engagement.
- A team of at least five researchers (including a senior researcher and female leads) must dedicate about 3 days per month over the course of the program.
Program Benefits:
- A cash grant of USD 60,000, along with additional grants for specific activities (e.g., capacity building, travel, events).
